We’re putting out this email Tuesday evening via School Messenger to student households in grades 3-12. Questions are being directed to principals or testing coordinators. Feel free to edit and use in your own messages, too!
This message is for families of students in grades 3-12:
Practice makes perfect! Now is the time to practice at home before your student takes his or her Standards of Learning exams in May. The practice exams can be taken using the new “Test Nav 8”.
Click here to get started*: https://va8.testnav.com/client/index.html
Choose “SOL Practice Items” and then select the grade level exams that apply to your student.
Also new this year, “Computer Adaptive Tests” for Reading (grades 3-5) and Math (grades 3-8). CATs “adapt” based on the student’s response to a given question. The computer automatically selects the next item depending on how the student answered the previous item. Questions become more or less difficult depending on a student’s previous answers. This format allows a student’s achievement to be measured with fewer test items. The length of the test is also shortened significantly.
Again, to get started*, visit: https://va8.testnav.com/client/index.html
For questions, contact your school’s principal or testing coordinator.

*Please make sure your computer’s operating system is up to date. Test Nav 8 may not work on older operating systems.
