Free Classroom Library Books through Goodwill

Goodwill has reached out to HCPS and offered us an exciting opportunity to acquire second hand books to boost classroom libraries. Beginning April 5th, and every Wednesday (except April 12th) from 12:00 to 3:00, Library Services will facilitate a pilot program where schools, on a rotating basis, can send a staff member to the Goodwill warehouse at 6301 Midlothian Turnpike to select books. Goodwill will supply bins and help load the books into personal vehicles at the warehouse, but schools will be responsible for hauling and sorting once the books arrive at their buildings. Materials selected will need to be vetted for age appropriateness and content by a librarian or educational professional in your building before being placed in classrooms. We hope to expand the program to teachers over the summer after we work out the logistics and establish relationships. Dates assigned and the Google Doc signup sheet have been sent to your librarian(s). Please feel free to contact Library Services with any questions.
