Instructional Planner Committee Meeting

Dear Principals:

As you know, an Instructional Planner (IP) Committee made up of K-12 teacher and school leader representatives from all magisterial districts will need to review the Instructional Planner, reflect and provide feedback on the format, content, and implementation process as a whole. The same committee will discuss long-term instructional goals and make recommendations for next steps. Based on best practices of instruction and two Academic Reviews conducted in HCPS over the past two school years; the need for a consistent high-quality instructional planning tool and process across the division remains. Although, we have gained insight into staff development needs, it is time to work together to develop a tool and process that is reasonable for teachers and administrators and that will ultimately have a positive and lasting impact on all of our students.

The first meeting of the Instructional Planner review committee is scheduled for Tuesday, February 17th from 2:30PM-4:30PM at New Bridge in the auditorium. In an effort to produce optimal results, we need input from you and your staff. Between now and the 17th, please do the following:

• Select a school representative to attend and provide feedback on behalf of your school at the meeting on the 17th.
• Gather feedback (i.e. department/grade level meetings, leadership team meetings, faculty meetings, Google forms, etc.) from your staff to provide to the school representative.
• If you or another member of your admin team would like to attend with your school representative, please do, as we need input from the school administrators’ perspective. *Note: there will be other opportunities for administrator feedback as well (Quarterly Leadership, Associate principals’ meetings, etc.)

We recognize that many schools have implemented this process at varying levels this school year, if you feel that you need additional support at the school level to gather feedback that is representative of your school, please let me or your Instructional Director know and we will be more than happy to assist in the process.

Please submit your school representative’s information on the Google form by Monday, Feb 2, 2015.
