If you received a request from the Virginia Department of Criminal Justice Services (DCJS) to complete a survey regarding a threat assessment you conducted, it is because DCJS is required, by a new state law, to collect data on threat assessments conducted in Virginia schools. Schools are required by the same law to keep data, as determined by DCJS, but DCJS has yet to define what data it needs or how it will be reported. This survey is the first step in developing the method that will be used in the future. So, if you did receive a survey, it is legitimate, and it needs to be completed.
