We have identified 5 critical shortage teaching areas and are targeting our own graduating seniors to potentially fill those roles 4-5 years from now. It is certainly not a quick fix but it shows our students we are willing to invest in them and may encourage some who wanted to be teachers anyway, to come back to Henrico County.
I am attaching two flyers which gives an overview of the program. Posters are being generated now and will be forwarded to your school counseling departments. In January we will enlist your help in getting the word out to “senior” students and parents through your senior emails, morning announcements, etc…
This is a great opportunity for students and we are thrilled to try something new and different to help meet our recruiting needs. More information will be coming shortly regarding application deadlines. Please feel free to call me with any questions.
