In preparation for the implementation of student use of the Password Manager self-service tool, a process is being implemented to support school administrators who need immediate access to student systems.
In the event that a principal, assistant or associate principal needs to access a student’s computer, PowerSchool, SchoolSpace, or HCPS Google email or Google Drive, and does not have access to the student’s password the following approach has been enabled:
• Principals, APs, and AsPs can access http://password.henrico/ and use the Technician Password Override option. They will use their normal username and password to authenticate to the system. This approach will change the students password but will not lock the student out of Password Manager. Students would still be able to access Password Manager from another computer and change it again so appropriate steps should be taken to limit student access to computers until the situation is resolved.
• If it is necessary to disable the student’s access entirely, school administrators should contact the TST who can initiate the process with the Technology department to change the student’s password and lock it so that it cannot be changed using Password Manager. The Technology department will also need to be engaged to unlock the account.
• In the event that a parent requests a password reset, the request should come through the school administration and the TST should be engaged in order to ensure that Password Manager is disabled for that account and the new password is communicated to all parties.
The following documents provide all of the information needed for the students to begin using Password Manager. The implementation for students will begin on October 31.
