Snow Babies

It’s that time of year where the temperatures are frigid and the kids are anxiously awaiting a snow day. Since there wasn’t any snow in the forecast this week, the Kindergarten students in Mrs. King’s class at Longan decided to get creative. Earlier in the week, they built Snow Babies by stuffing a white, toddler size sock to create the body, and a colorful, infant sized sock to make a hat. They even embellished their Snow Babies with eyes, a carrot nose, a mouth, buttons, and a ribbon for a scarf. They turned out great, but we needed a little iPad magic to bring their Snow Babies to life! The students used ChatterPix Kids to take a picture of their Snow Baby. Then they added a mouth and recorded themselves reading some sight word sentences they have been working on that featured the word “here.” Finally, they added a snowy frame, snowflake stickers, and their name to their work before saving it to the camera roll. We sent the pictures and videos to the computer using Dropbox, and Mrs. King will be sharing the Dropbox link with the parents. Check out a few of their Snow Baby recordings!
