Dear families,
We have had an action packed week! On Monday we had so much fun with our Junior Achievement volunteer Mrs. Sauer from UPS. The students wrote very expressive thank you notes to her. A copy of your child’s note was sent home today in their folders.
On Tuesday we had a surprise assembly from Wildlife of Virginia. It was a great science review of animal adaptations, interdependency, and conservation.
On Wednesday we learned about different careers. State Delegate Van Valkenberg, who is also a government teacher at Glen Allen HS spoke to the students about how laws are made and changed. Mr Gouax, who is a pilot also presented to the third graders.
This week we enjoyed PAW Achievement classroom movies where we got to relax for a while, and of STEAM Day! Thank you to all of the parent volunteers who visited today. Your support made all of our activities go much more smoothly!
When we return to school from Spring Break on April 8 it will be the beginning of the fourth nine weeks. We will also be getting geared up for SOL tests in May. Please make sure your child is reading every day over break for at least 20 minutes. Also continue to practice Moby Max at home. Even 15 minutes a day can really improve your child’s Math skills!
On Tuesday, April 9 our class will be going to the Math and Science Center for a field trip from 9:30-12:30 pm. We will be back in time for our regularly scheduled lunch. There will be no power test weekly assessment the week we return from school.
In Reading we will complete our unit on fables and author’s purpose and review summarizing nonfiction. In Writing we will write to inform. In Math we will multiply larger numbers as well as begin a unit on Geometry. In Science we will investigate simple and compound machines.
Have a wonderful SPRING BREAK!
