Dear families,
We had a wonderful week of learning in third grade! On Monday we collaborated with first grader to brainstorm and design items to make and give away at our Maker’s Market in December. On Wednesday the students participated in Henrico County’s Fire Safety lessons. If you haven’t already, ask your student to share their fire safety booklet!
Due to the Thanksgiving holiday I will not be sending home PAW checks or graded work next week. The students do not have homework next week.
Next week in Reading we will use Thanksgiving stories to practice theme and different levels of questions. In writing we will complete our opinion paragraphs. In math we will continue our unit on measurement. With Thanksgiving baking this is a great time to get your child involved in real life measurement at home! At Trevvett on Tuesday, November 26 we will be having a “Measurement Mania” activity in the cafe. The students will rotate through five stations from 8-8:55 am. We would love some extra hands to keep the students on task! Please let me know if you would like to volunteer to help at a station on Tuesday!
On Thursday, December 5 the third grade will be performing for our PTO Waffle Supper. They will also perform at 8 am for the students. I am attaching the lyrics to the songs so that the students can practice at home, if possible. We have had a short amount of time to prepare for our performance and I want my Tigers to shine! Please consider staying for the waffle supper after our performance! The revenue benefits our PTO!
On Friday, December 6 the students will have a field trip to The Science Museum of Virginia. We will depart school at 9:30 am and return by 1:15 pm. Students will need to pack their lunch or get a lunch from the cafeteria.
I hope you all have a wonderful Thanksgiving Break!
