Dear families,
Mrs. Duffy and I enjoyed a five day week of learning in third grade! The students’ showed great growth on their 9 weeks’ reading assessment on Tuesday. The first graders did a great job at our Veteran’s Day assembly on Thursday!
Next week will be a busy one! On Monday we will have a school wide STEAM day activity. At 7:45 am we will have an awards assembly in our classrooms and then work with the first grade to plan our school wide great giving challenge. Students will eat lunch at 10:15 and dismissal starts at 10:55 am. Please look out for your child’s first nine weeks’ report card in their backpack on Monday. Sign and return the envelope only. Please keep the report card at home for your reference.
Next week in Reading we will complete our novel studies unit of Crenshaw and begin learning about questioning as a comprehension strategy. In writing we will continue to practice persuasive writing and explore r controlled vowels. In math we will complete our unit on multiplication and division concepts and begin learning about linear measurement. In social studies we will complete the unit on ancient Egypt. We will begin a unit of study on human and natural influences on ecosystems (interdependency).
The deadline for payment for our Science Museum of Virginia field trip is rapidly approaching! Please return your child’s permission slip and payment no later than Wednesday, November 20. If you would like to pay online the link is attached here.
As a reminder, toys are not permitted at school! If your child has a toy in class we will take it from them. Please remind your child not to share food or lip gloss/chapstick. It is cold and flu season and we need to protect each other with healthful habits.
