Week of 5/7

We have been working so hard to prepare for the upcoming Virginia Standards of Learning tests that will take place in the next three weeks! Our theme for this is year is “SWAG”-students with amazing grit. On Monday, May 7 we are going to get pepped up at an assembly that begins at 8 am. Please join us if your schedule allows!
On Thursday and Friday, May 10/11 the students will be taking their Reading SOL. Information has been sent home in the students’ daily folders about these important tests. We will continue to review Reading comprehension strategies as well as specific skills. The students will have their Reading notebooks and written reading homework on Monday- Wednesday to help them prepare for these important tests.
In Math we are also in review mode. The students have a measurement study guide in their daily folders today. I am asking for the students to study and complete the practice questions this weekend. If they turn it in on Monday with a parent signature they will earn a recess with no laps!! We are so excited to provide the students with yet another computer opportunity to practice their skills. Ixl.com is a program that provides the students with interactive test question prep and they can work on problems at home. There are over 300 skills and activities provided.
In Virginia Studies we will begin our review for the SOL on Wednesday, May 23. In Science we will begin a unit on plants, how their parts function, how they reproduce, and how they make their own food.
Have a wonderful weekend!
