Week of 3/26

Dear families,
Next week is our last week of instruction before Spring Break and the fourth graders are feeling the spring fever. Please take a moment to discuss with your child the importance of ALWAYS putting forth their best effort. There has been a lot of chatting and off task behavior that is causing disruptions to our learning environment.
In Reading we will continue to practice inferencing in Fiction and nonfiction. The students will have written Reading homework. New weekly vocabulary words will be tested on Friday, March 30. In Math we will continue to practice adding and subtracting fractions and mixed numbers with unlike denominators. We will be focusing on word problems and real life applications of this skill. The students will have written Math homework. Please monitor that your child is solving homework problems accurately so as to support their learning at home. In Virginia Studies we will complete our unit on Reconstruction (8a-c) and have a test on Wednesday, March 28.
On Tuesday, March 27 we will be working in Trevvett’s Outdoor Classroom pulling weeds and getting ready for planting in May. I will be supervising students in the garden from 2:30-3:30. If your child would like to stay and help I would love to have them join my Garden Club members. An approved family member must be able to pick them up at 3:30. Email me, send a dojo message, and a write a note about change in transportation if your child can join us!
