Dear Families,
Please know that I was at an educators conference today at Lewis Ginter Botanical Gardens today. Student graded papers and behavior communicators will come home MONDAY.
We have had a great week in fourth grade, despite our two hour delay on Tuesday. All of the students have shown growth in their Math skills on their biweekly Math assessment! Thank you for supporting their learning at home by checking their agendas and having them study to prepare for tests.
On Monday the students will have their Ecosystems 4.5 test. They will have their notebooks today. I do not like to give tests on a Monday, however, I feel the students are prepared to be successful. Here is a jeopardy game to help them practice their knowledge at home. Please remind them to study Sunday night!
Next week in Reading we will be making inferences in fiction and nonfiction. The studentw will have a weekly vocabulary test on Friday, March 23. Our weekly power test assessment is Wednesday, March 21 for Reading. In Writing we will continue to practice identifying prepositions and complete our two paragraph informative writings about our feathered friend (bird adaptations for beaks and feet.) In Math we will learn to add and subtract fractions with unlike denominators. The students will continue to learn how to reduce fractions to their simplest form. In Virginia Studies we will begin a unit of study about Virginia after the Civil War and the period of resconstruction.
We have been using a program called Moby Max in class. Our trial subscription is up on March 21. The students have really enjoyed this program. Please take advantage of the final days of access at home. The students have a log in card in the front of their agendas. Their log in and password are the same.
Please remind your child to practice their recorder and bring it to class every Wednesday!
