Dear Families,
We have been working so hard to learn our Virginia Studies curriculum and it has paid off!! On our Race Three quizzes 90% of the class passed with a 70 or higher. To celebrate our success we will be having an ice cream party on Tuesday, February 20. Keep up the outstanding work!
Monday, February 19 is President’s Day but Henrico County will be making up a snow day and will have a full day of instruction. Next week we will be preparing for our last set of end of semester benchmark tests with Reading part 1/part 2 on Thursday, February 22 and Friday, February 23. To help the students study at home they will have written reading homework. The students will have copies of their homework on Monday, however, I am attaching the homework to this blog post for your reference. The students will only have one page a night. We will do page 1 Monday, page 2 Tuesday, and page 3 on Wednesday. In Reading we will also begin a unit of cause and effect. In Writing we will be learning about prepositions and making our own prepositional phrases booklets.
In Math we will start our unit on Measurement, focusing on metric and US customary units for length to the fractional part of an inch. They will also need to know some equivalencies. In Virginia Studies we will begin our unit on causes, people, and battles of the Civil War.
Today two important things came home in your child’s folder: our Spring fundraising packet, and information about fourth grade’s Living History Museum performance at the PTA meeting February 27 at 6 pm. Please consider having your child participate in this activity here at school. Thank you!
