Dear Families,
We have had an action packed week! We successfully completed our Math benchmark tests, began our project presentations of our African American Achievers, and investigated friction through a Science lab!
Next week will be a busy one as well! On Monday we will be reviewing for the students’ semester benchmark in Virginia Studies. Please make sure they take some time to study over the weekend!! I have sent home in their blue folders a study guide that has all of the information that they need to know from the first nine weeks. I hope this simplifies the process for you at home. I have also attached the document here. They need to know all of the information through page 5.
In Reading we will review reference sources and author’s purpose as we prepare for our Reading semester benchmark on February 22 and 23. The students will not have weekely vocabulary words next week. In writing we will continue to present our projects and begin learning about prepositions and prepositional phrases. In Math we will continue to learn and apply patterns. In Science we will complete our unit on Force, Motion and energy. The students will have a test on Friday, February 16.
Next week is Valentine’s Spirit week. On Tuesday we are asking for students to bring in a family picture or picture of a loved one to share during morning meeting. On Wednesday the students will be allowed to pass out Valentine cards to classmates if they choose. A class list of names will be sent home on Monday. If you choose to send in cards please make sure that every child in the class has one and that no candy is included with the cards.
