I think This is a really good idea
Wouldn’t people step on it, especially if you are in school and switching classes, imagine walking through the square, and just down halls in general. Otherwise, it is definitely a problem and does solve it.
Also, on the website there aren’t any pictures of it in use; there aren’t any pictures of it on someone’s foot.
