5th Graders,

What a great day to practice learning to name and recognize the 50 states!  Challenge yourself today to:

1 – Review and remember the states for the Southeast and Northeast regions

2 – Learn the states of the Midwest region

We’ll be practicing these tomorrow in class!

Official and Nonofficial Nicknames of U.S. States

Remember, the Nearpod has been added to Schoology & the Social Studies tab at the top of this page has lots of review games.

Have a Terrific Tuesday,

Mrs. Beam 🙂

5th Graders,

I can’t believe this is our last week of Zoom class meetings!  It’s been a strange ending to a really great year.  I’m looking forward to our individual conferences this week to talk about each of your “glows” and “grows” this year.  Please remember to either join me on Zoom at the time of your conference or request a call.

This week’s Zoom class time will focus on reviewing and learning the location and names of the 50 states of America.  Check out the tab at the top of this page for review activities, and you can also access a self-paced Nearpod in Schoology.  In addition, we will continue reading A Long Walk to Water.

Have a Mindful Monday,

Mrs. Beam 🙂

Happy Memorial Day 5th Graders!!

Remember, we won’t be meeting today.  Our Zoom class will resume on Wednesday, May 27th.  On Friday, we finished reviewing six types of poetry.  I’m asking everyone to write just ONE poem to close out the unit.  The assignment is posted in Schoology and I’ve included a snip of what it looks like below.

Have a Memorable Monday,

Mrs. Beam 🙂

5th Graders,

Today is the day!  We’ll be meeting at 2 PM for a short Zoom meeting and then again at 3 PM for a 5th Grade Zoom!

There are a few things you should bring to the 3 PM meeting to make it more fun.  See if you can have these items ready to use:

  • hardback book/clipboard and tennis ball (or something that rolls)
  • water bottle with about 2” of water
  • blanket/throw, cup, paper ball (little bigger than a ping pong ball)

Have a Fabulous Friday,

Mrs. Beam 🙂

5th Grade Families,

Henrico County has made some decisions about how schools, teachers, and students will be closing out the 2019 – 2020 school year.  Details about each event will be communicated via email & this blog prior to its occurence.  As always, please reach out with any questions.

Remember, tomorrow at 3 PM the 5th grade teachers will be hosting another grade level ZOOM meeting.  The join link will be sent separately since it’s different from the link we use for our regular class ZOOM meetings.

Have a Thinking Thursday,

Mrs. Beam 🙂
