Wishing all the very special moms out there the happiest of Mother’s Days!

I want to thank you for all of the thoughtful gestures during Teacher Appreciation Week! In such an unprecented year, I couldn’t have asked for a better group of students and parents to work with. Thank you!

We are gearing up to show all the knowledge that we have gained in 5th grade! As the testing window nears, there will be a change in schedule for the 3 weeks we have scheduled SOL tests.  Any student that is not participating in the SOL will be assigned asynchronous work for both Tuesday and Wednesday. Students will be expected to complete the asynchronous work by 1:00 each day in order to be marked as “present.” There will not be a Teams meeting on either day as we administer the state tests to our in person and virtual students. Virtual students will log into their Teams Art resource on Tuesday at 12:00 and in-person students will log into their Teams Art resource on Wednesday at 9:30.

Reminders for students participating in SOL testing at School:

  • Arrive on time – school begins at 8:00
  • Students will need their fully charged laptop during testing
  • It would also be beneficial to have a couple of pencils
  • Scratch paper will be provided
  • Please bring a book or two from home for after testing
  • Lunch: Students will eat lunch at 12pm each day of testing

We will begin  review of previously learned material this week as well.

Students will learn about the states and capitals, the map location and the land and water features of this region. A quiz on the map location and the states and capitals of the 11 states that make up this region is scheduled for Friday, May 14. Be sure to utilize the notes in the student resource folder to prepare for the quiz.
