Welcome to the “Lyons’ Den” classroom blog!

Use this blog to learn more about all of the exciting learning experiences we’re having in the classroom, to locate important classroom information and dates (including school and classroom events and homeroom projects, quizzes, and tests), and to view helpful learning resources. Think of the blog as your child’s weekly newsletter. Students are encouraged to read the blog weekly with parental permission and guidance.

This will be my sixteenth year as a  teacher at Glen Allen. I am so excited to be working with you and your child this year! The fifth grade is such a pivotal year of academic and social growth. You will be amazed with the progress that your child makes!

I look forward to meeting you and your child at our Open House on Thursday, August 29th from 10:00 – 11:30.  Your child  will have the opportunity to organize his/her supplies and to get a chance to look around the classroom. If you are not able to come to Open House your child will have time to get organized on the first day of school.  Parents will need to complete necessary forms and also be offered volunteer opportunities during the Open House. Volunteers will need to complete a form and watch a short 3-minute video prior to volunteering at school. This can be done at Open House on Thursday. Volunteer opportunities will continue to be available and will be offered at Back to  School Night on Thursday, September 19th.

I’m looking forward to a fabulous fifth grade year with you and your child.  It’s going to be an amazing year in the “Lyons’ Den!”
