Happy Friday! We had another fabulous week in the “Lyons’ Den!”

English Vocabulary Reminder 

We will be having vocabulary homework on a daily basis and each Friday there will be a spelling portion and a vocabulary portion to the test. Please be sure that your child is completing the entire page in their vocabulary packet each day for their homework completion quiz grade. The weekly vocabulary packets should stay in the students’ binders throughout the year as a means of reference and for periodic review tests.  Try taking a practice test on both the spelling and the definition of each word at least once a week on SpellingCity. You can find me by looking for Cathy Lyons under the teacher search. Next week we will be covering list #3 – “Going Green.”

Character Collage Book Report

The instructions and rubric for our first book report will go home on Monday, Sept. 25. Be sure that your child is following the guidelines and the rubric in preparation for this report. The book report will be due on October 30. .  Students will have the opportunity to check out a fictional book of their choice and reading level this week (no graphic novels). We will also have daily silent reading time in class each day.

Students must return the rubric when they bring in their book reports on October 30th.

Henrico History

Students will have a quiz  on the Surrounding Counties Map (workbook/packet page 3) on Tuesday, September 25th.

The Henrico Explorers passport permission slips went home last Thursday. If your family is interested in taking part in this optional activity, please sign and return the slip by Tuesday, Sept. 25th. This is an optional program that you and your family can participate in together to celebrate Henrico County History. passportForm_2018
