New coach makes history

For the first time in Varina history, the boys varsity volleyball team has a female coach, exceptional education teacher Emily Mickelson. Although she is not new to coaching volleyball, she is new to coaching boys volleyball.

Star passer overcomes concussion

When junior defensive player Erica Carroll was diagnosed with a concussion after getting hit in the nose during a tough varsity volleyball match against the Hermitage Panthers, she was required to sit out for 20 days. She said those twenty days felt like a century.
