Editorial: School enforces dress code

Administrators have decided to strictly enforce dress code violations.

Students complain about getting a dress code violation, which would never happen in the first place if students actually paid attention to the dress code.

The dress code is not new. It is just being enforced more than in previous years. Still, students choose not to abide by the code causing numerous dress code violations. Of 100 students surveyed, 60 percent said they do not take the dress code into consideration when dressing for school.

Some students may think that the dress code is unnecessary, but the majority of high schools have restrictions on how students dress themselves.

The dress code is fair because it sets the same standards for everyone. For those students who feel their right to dress how they want is restricted, it all comes down to what is appropriate for school.

A majority of students oppose the dress code, but it is not going anywhere. Administrators are not trying to silence the opinion of the student body. They are trying to have students dress appropriately.

Students will experience fewer violations and arguments about clothes when they take the dress code into account.
