Summary
Students in Mrs. Kochel’s Spanish 3 class used subjunctive and imperative grammar, health and wellness vocabulary, and creativity to design websites including workout videos promoting their dream gym. They researched existing gym websites, the importance of good exercise and healthy eating habits, and Spanish grammar.

Rating: Approaching – Explanation: Approaching: The students drove the research by developing questions to guide the process and focusing their topics to match their personal interests. They collected their research into a collaborative Google Doc, so that each member of the group could process the information, even though it came from a variety of sources
Communication & Collaboration
Rating: Approaching – Explanation: Approaching: The students formed their own groups and decided on the best digital tool for organization. They all worked on the Google site, as administrators, and were responsible for different pages/roles within the team.
Critical Thinking & Problem Solving
Rating: Approaching – Explanation: Approaching: This project enabled students to make decisions about the type of gym they wanted to create, after researching and evaluating current options on the market. They had full autonomy to set prices and offer services, depending on what they believed would be successful. The creation of a gym and website was a very authentic task.
Creativity & Innovation
Rating: Approaching – Explanation: Approaching: The work the students created was meaningful and original, with guidance from the teacher. All students created websites, but they chose which digital product would best meet the needs of their gym clients. The also had full design control and creativity in the aesthetics of the product.
