Summary
Students researched the regions of Virginia. Then they presented important information to the class on what made each region important to Virginia. Students had a choice of how they wanted to present their region to the class. They could choose Google Slides, Movie Maker, Yakit, or Comic Life. Students could also choose to work with a partner or work independently. Students used resources within One Search for their research and pictures.

Rating: Approaching – Explanation: Students used One Search to answer important questions about their region. They had to determine if information they found was important to their research and organize their information into a meaningful presentation to convince others to live in the reason they chose to research.
Communication & Collaboration
Rating: Approaching – Explanation: Students worked with a partner of their choosing. They had to establish group norms to accomplish their tasks of creating a presentation of some kind.
Critical Thinking & Problem Solving
Rating: Approaching – Explanation: Students had to respond to purposeful questions such as why is your area so important to Virginia? Could Virginia survive without your area? Why would someone want to live in your area? they also had to answer basic questions about their area as well that went along with SOL 2.8b.
Creativity & Innovation
Rating: Developing – Explanation: Students were given the choice of using Comic Life, Yakit, Power Point, or Windows Movie maker to present their information. Some students used Scratch because they had taught themselves at home how to use the program.
