Summary
Students will be given an introduction to the ideals of communism and capitalism and analyze why the different systems developed when and where they did. They will synthesize the information they find through research into an attractive infographic using Piktochart or a similar tool and review information of their peers to see the different ideas and presentation methods that the class has come up with.

Rating: Approaching – Explanation: Students used their research skills for this lesson in order to produce their final infographic. Students first needed to use their research skills to fill out a Venn Diagram comparing britain in 1750 with Germany in 1880. Students looked for similarities and differences and charted them on the diagram. Students then used their research skills to find and synthesize information they needed to complete the infographic.
Communication & Collaboration
Rating: Approaching – Explanation: Although students were given the opportunity work work alone to produce their infographic they still need to use communication and collaboration skills. Students have been working all year long on taking group notes using Today’s Meet. When questions arise from the group notes whole class or small group discussions take place and answers or findings are shared with the class.

Rating: Ideal – Explanation: This lesson focused on students creating a final product that was new and unique product in the form of an infographic. Students access prior knowledge, developed new knowledge through research and group online communication to create an infographic to answer the essential question of: “How did the Industrial revolutions lead to changes in economic systems in industrialized countries?”. Students were given the opportunity to share their creation with the class and reflect on their work.
