Summary
First grade students will work in partners to research an animal they have chosen using pre-selected books and online research database, Pebble Go. During art, students will create a representation of their animal and its habitat. They will use their artwork and the i-Pad App ChatterPix to create a recording to share information with their classmates.

Rating: Approaching – Explanation: The students used books and Pebblego to locate information to answer questions about their animal. Using the information they gained through research, students created animals and habitat scenery in art class. They then used the ChatterPix app to powerfully share the information with their peers.
Communication & Collaboration
Rating: Developing – Explanation: The students worked in selected groups to complete assignment using Chatterpix on the iPad to record the information they found during research.
Critical Thinking & Problem Solving
Rating: Developing – Explanation: The students used critical thinking skills to refine their research to complete the Chatterbox digital video.
Creativity & Innovation
Rating: Developing – Explanation: The students were given the opportunity to choose which animal to research. Once selected students created the animal based on their research.
