Who would be the best president to succeed in our world today?

This lesson is for : Grade 12: VA/US Government

Summary

Students will research and create a visual presentation for a US President. They will create a presentation using Prezi, Movie Maker, Publisher, Weebly, Google Site, Wix, Smore or another type of digital product. Additionally, they will include one infographic and/or multimedia component to their digital presentation. After completion of the individual research, students will peer review their classmate’s projects and reflect on other presidents’ possible performance in the 21st Century. Students must include a works cited page of all sources and pictures. Next they will view at least 2 of their classmates projects in a discussion board format and provide feedback on those projects with a thread on the discussion board. Finally, they must answer the discussion thread question: “Of the 2 president projects you reviewed and your own president, who would be the best president to succeed in our world today—the 21st Century—based on current issues of today & WHY?”

Research & Information Fluency

Rating: Ideal – Explanation: The Librarians demonstrated good researching skills with Databases and Easy Bib. Link to Library Presentation. Students must include a works cited page of all sources and pictures.

Communication & Collaboration

Rating: Approaching – Explanation: The students peered reviewed their classmate’s projects and reflected on other presidents’ possible performance in the 21st Century. They also participated in a discussion board format and provided feedback on those projects with a thread on the discussion board.

Critical Thinking & Problem Solving

Rating: Approaching – Explanation: To answer the question “Of the 2 president projects you reviewed and your own president, who would be the best president to succeed in our world today—the 21st Century—based on current issues of today & WHY?” Students had to analyze and evaluate the accomplishments of the six presidents as well as have a firm understanding of current conflicts and political issues.

Creativity & Innovation

Rating: Approaching – Explanation: Students were very creative with their visual presentations using Prezi, Movie Maker, Publisher, Weeby, Google Site, Wix, Smore or another type of digital product. Additionally, they included one inforgraphic and/or multimedia component to their digital presentation.
