This lesson is for : Grade 5:
Summary
For the past five years we have centered our Spring Enrichment on community service. The children have brought in a new book to donate to St. Joseph’s Villa. They have also made a bookmark to insert in their donated book. Last year a student asked why we give the books to St. Joseph’s Villa. We decided to give the students an opportunity to research different local organizations to make an educated decision as to where to donate the books. With this project, students are researching and collaborating in small groups and finally creating a persuasive presentation to share with their peers. Persuasive writing will be taught during this lesson as well as important research skills and strategies.
