The teacher was able to facilitate the students’ research using a variety of print and digital resources to find and organize information about each of the roles in the American Revolution. Students selected appropriate tools for research. Students worked in groups to apply the information they gathered and came up with a plan to build their blogs.

Student groups collaborated on developing writing posts that connected with their role in the American Revolution. Students were engaged in brainstorming solutions and various ways to design their blog along with compromising on how to approach other blogs related to the Revolution.

Students were engaged in an authentic project where they had to gather research to solve a real world task. Students had to think critically by assuming the role of a person from the Revolutionary War and then talk about the problem of assuming another person’s point of view and to respond in an appropriate and accurate manner. Students needed to generate ideas after researching in order to work together and solve their task.

Students had the opportunity to create and present their blogs in a realistic and innovative way. Students presented each blog, sharing the highlights of various posts and how they felt about the comments and responses they received not only as a student, but also as someone taking on that role during the American Revolution.
