Summary
This lesson involves students researching why volunteers are important to the community we live in by using the Pebble Go website and Skyping with a community volunteer, The Henrico County Christmas Mother. The students also researched ways members of their own families make contributions to our community through volunteering. Since HCPS has a tradition of participating in a food drive for the Christmas Mother every year, the class was curious about who was the Christmas Mother. We decided to Skype with her from our very own classroom to learn about her volunteer job firsthand and how students could contribute.
