Summary
This culturally and technologically integrated performance-based task was completed during a 3 week unit on athletic events and competitions. The students created a “Facebook-like” Fan Page for a famous athlete from a Spanish-speaking country. The page was created in Google Sites and has a navigation pane in which the viewer can navigate between biographical information, images, achievements, video footage and a mock interview with the athlete.

This lesson was approaching as students used appropriate digital tools to facilitate communication and collaboration. Additionally student spoke in (and recorded) the target language in pairs.
This lesson is approaching as students applied digital tools to create individualized sites, manipulated pages within the site, made decisions about what to include and problem-solved issues related to recording and uploading video and audio files.
In terms of creativity this lesson is approaching as students created a meaningful unique product that showcase their use of the target language in multiple capacities (reading, writing, listening and speaking – writing a biography, recording an interview, narrating footage from an authentic video.)
