Summary
: In this lesson, students will use their writing skills in a fun and creative manner. They will work in teams of two to three students to make Comic Life comic strips to teach the class about their favorite famous American. They will choose from any of the famous Americans listed in SOL 2.11. This project will be used as a review of SOL 2.11.
TIPC Ratings
Students will select appropriate websites and books to assemble, evaluate, and utilize information for their Comic Life project. Students will be given a variety of books and websites to choose from. They will also be given access to the library and librarian to obtain additional books on their Famous American.
Students will form collaborative teams to come up with a way to teach the class about a famous American of their choice and create an original comic strip. Students must use their time wisely to work cooperatively with their partner. Each group will select a secretary, spokesperson, and leader for their group.
Students will use their critical thinking skills to guide their decision making for this project. They will use multiple resources to plan and design their comic strip. They will use technology to collaborate and design a plan for their project. They will assign each member of the group a role (secretary, spokesperson, and leader).
Students will use critical thinking skills, research methods, and communication tools to make an original comic strip. They must use their creativity in designing their comic strip.
