Summary
Students chose a geograhic region of the United States that they were interested in. Then they were placed into five groups based on their interest. Each student selected an independent topic to research. Using the framework of Empowering Writers, students used a variety of resources to develop an expository piece. After receiving peer and teacher feedback on their expository piece, students collaborated with their group to create a unique presentation using keynote, Garage Band, iTunes, iMovie and/or Photo Booth to share their factual information with their peers.

Target: Students used a variety of online tools and technologies to synthesize information for both an expository written piece and a creative presentation of facts. Using graphic organizers, students selected relevant facts to use in individual and group projects to powerfully display their information.
Approaching: Students worked with teams to create a unique presentation sharing features significant to a US region. Work included peer feedback and an evaluation of their group output.
Approaching: Students utilized a variety of resources to generate and respond to purposeful questions about cultural differences found throughout the United States.
Students applied their knowledge gained to create meaningful and innovative presentations that incorporated various technologies.
