Recently, I had my students explore the various apps that relate to health and wellness. I found that my students really enjoyed discovering the different apps that relate to health and wellness. After each student researched their app of choice they then answered reflection questions on a google form. This allowed all students to view the various apps students discovered in their search. Because I find that many adults choose to use apps in their daily active lifestyle, I knew this would be valuable tool to assist in their current and future active healthy lifestyle.
With the number of students with IEPs in the Health classroom, I needed to find some way to help these students to comprehend articles or websites that they might need to complete their work in class. I found a good site for all my students to use, is called http://rewordify.com/. This cite is also a great help to increase students’ vocabulary. Make sure you go to the “setting” portion and choose how you want the more difficult words to be displayed. I like the one where the more difficult words are highlighted in purple and then another word that means the same is highlighted in yellow. Each student must log in and also pick the setting that you have selected, and then hit the “save” buttion. The students must then add this site to their “favorites” menu. As the students are working, I walk around the room to make sure all students are using Rewordify for all reading assignments. I hope this is an idea you may want to use in your classroom.

I am amazed with the overall benefits of stretching and the impact it had made in my daily life. I find that when I stretch, I feel more relaxed, I have a greater range of mobility in my joints, and overall I feel refreshed. In the past, I was not able to gain these results from a daily stretch; probably because I did not put forth the time and duration that my body needed. I no longer have to be in pain when I perform a functional movement.

I realize my opionions of Varina Football are biased, but the program means a lot to me as well as our community. The perception of our program”s student athletes are, that their success is because of their perceived superior athleticism. In reality they are willing to sacrifice more towards a cause more than the norm. Our program committs itself to being the best year around, and for their efforts they are rewarded by both team and individual accolades. I am most proud that the football athletes that we have coached here for the past two decades are great people. They work to be leaders, while the temptations of peer pressure they struggle to ignore. Rodney Roane was a great person. He often placed other’s needs before his own. He was a leader who others followed while he consistently mentored our youth. He was a strong member of our Varina Football Fraternity, and his positive character was a direct reflection of the men our program wishes to produce. He took pride in calling himself a Varina Football Player, and him wearing that golden helmet speaks volumes of the man he was. RIP Blue Devil!!!!!!
