Playdough Recipe

Playdough Recipe

1/2 cup salt
1 cup flour
1 cup water
2 teaspoons cream of tartar
1 1/2-2 Tablespoons baby oil

Mix in a medium pan. Cook over low heat. Stir until dough forms a stiff ball and no longer looks raw. Let dough cool slightly and knead for a couple of minutes. Keep in an air tight container.

Note: If you wish to change the color you can add several drops of food coloring to the cup of water. Also, you can add scent to your dough, for example, by adding drops of peppermint extract to the water or 1 to 2 teaspoons of pumpkin pie spice to the flour.

Play dough can be used to develop fine motor skills, creativity and academic skills. Children love to knead it and use cookie cutters. By rolling “snakes” letters, numbers or words can be made!
