Annual State Fair Hits Virginia

 

One of the most highly anticipated events by almost every Virginian is the annual State Fair of Virginia.

This year, it began Friday, September 29th and ended Sunday, October 8th, and was open Monday-Thursday and Sunday 10am-9pm, as well as Friday and Saturday 10am-10pm. This year, the state fair partnered with Walgreens for ticketing, all Walgreens establishments offering early and discounted tickets.

Located as always at the Meadow Event Park, this annual event drew thousands and thousands of visitors over the two weeks it was open, providing entertainment for people of all ages.

Van Valkenburg Runs for Delegate

Mr. Van Valkenburg is a history teacher here at Glen Allen High School, who teaches World History 1, AP European History, and AP Government. He also coaches the “We the People” participants for Glen Allen High School and is a sponsor for the Glen Allen chapter Social Studies National Honor Society, Rho Kappa, where he encourages students to get involved in their local government. Celebrating Teachers, aka Superheroes

During the week of May 1, Glen Allen celebrated Teacher Appreciation Week. Although this show of recognition only lasts five fleeting days, our educators, mentors, coaches, and motivators have an overwhelming—and often unrealized–impact within the community. By enlivening our school culture, serving as counselors and tutors, and going above and beyond their job descriptions, Glen Allen teachers showcase their passion and commitment to their students.
