ActivEngage

ActivEngage is a part of Promethean’s ActivInspire software that provides users with a virtual responder that can be used to help drive and/or assess instruction.

Objectives

  1. Explore the 3 types of questioning available in ActivEngage -  Express Poll, Question Manager, and Self-Paced Learning.
  2. Review the steps for creating these questions.
  3. Explore/review the process for turning on virtual hub (teachers).
  4. Review the updated student directions for connecting to the hub.

  1. Click here to access the directions for the 3 question types avaiable in Inspire/Engage.
  2. Explore the 3 types and brainstorm/share ways you have/will use the questions.
  3. Use the directions to practice creating each type of question.
  4. Click here to download the teacher directions for connecting to your virtual hub. This is where you will turn your hub on so that students can connect to it. It is important that you understand and can execute these steps as they are a vital part of the process.

Connecting to the ActivEngage Server: Step 1 in troubleshooting. If this does not work, restart and try again. You may need to do this daily as a teacher.

ActivEngage Server Selection: Any time you switch schools or receive a “Select a Hub” error in ActivEngage, run this script.

Registering Students in ActivOffice: You can register students in ActivOffice without opening ActivInspire! Here’s how:

ActivOffice

Title

ActivOffice allows you to incorporate the collaborative features of ActivInspire within PowerPoint to create engaging presentations. ActivOffice provides access to the full range of learner response tools and PowerPoint presentation modes. Annotate and save for later, register learner response devices directly from PowerPoint, and add and manage questions easily!

Objectives

  1. Explore the toolbar (presentation tools) in ActivOffice.
  2. Create a connection to the ActivEngage server.
  3. Utilize Express Poll, Question Manager, and Self-Paced Learning.

  Directions

    1. Enroll in the Free Online Course for Promethean ActivOffice on Promethean Planet (you must register or login). You will view parts 2 and 3 of this course.
    2. On the online course page, scroll down to #2 “Using Promethean ActivOffice Presentation toolsand work through the tutorial. You may also wish to use this quick reference for using an older PowerPoint with ActivOffice.
    3. Read the handout for connecting to the ActivEngage server.
    4. On the online course page, view the tutorial under “3 Using LRS with Promethean Office.”

You may wish to refer back to the course as you work with ActivOffice. Enjoy!
