Online Parent Training

To help parents understand the laptop initiative, every parent of a student new to HCPS Middle Schools is required to complete parent technology orientation.  Parents who have completed training for an older sibling or parents who are HCPS teachers are not required to attend training but are encouraged to attend. Please notify your school’s technology AP via the links below if you have already met training requirements for your 6th grade child.

If you are in need of training, you may attend in-person training sessions hosted at any HCPS middle school or you may complete parent training online by using the links below. Online training is updated each fall and available to parents of students new to HCPS schools each school year. Live sessions in HCPS middle schools are held during the early fall only. Middle Schools have a compiled schedule of all training sessions held in HCPS middle schools. If you would like to attend a live training session at your school, you may access the schedule for these on this website by accessing the link above for “Parent Training” and then selecting “Live”.

TO COMPLETE ONLINE PARENT TRAINING:

  1. Download the Parent Training Study Guide by clicking one of the links below. Use this to take notes while you view the videos. Then you can use these to assist you when you take the online assessment. In the event that there is an issue with your online assessment, a completed, correct paper version of the study guide can be turned in for credit. It is available in both Word and PDF format.
