Count My Legs!

Count My Legs!

First graders enjoyed a MSIC (Math and Science Innovation Center) lesson. They observed the following animals: centipede, hissing cockroach, ladybug, mealworm, and millipede. Ask your student some of these questions about the lesson. What four basic needs do all animals need to survive? What is one way that scientists use to identify an animal? Do all animals have four legs? What is the difference between centipedes and millipedes? What is the difference between “pedes” and insects? Could we find these animals in your backyard?

Statue of Liberty

Statue of Liberty

First graders learned that the Statue of Liberty is a patriotic symbol. Additionally, they enjoyed visiting the Statue of Liberty webcam using classroom laptops. The webcam includes five cameras with views from the balcony of the torch and a panorama of the harbor.
