WOW! Things are going great with our SCA Fundraiser. We sold out of 500 Smencils in only TWO days! No worries though! We have another order of Smencils being sent to us, and they should be here by Thursday or Friday. We still have a little over 150 Scented Bookmarks left, so we will still have some "Scents" left to sell while we wait for the new order to come in. Thank you so much for your support of this SCA Fundraiser!
Smencils Are Back!
Smencils go on sale this Monday! This year the SCA is also adding a new item to the Smencils fundraiser: Scented Bookmarks! This was our most exciting fundraiser last year when we sold out of the Smencils in only FOUR days! All pencils and bookmarks will be sold for $1.00, and all the earnings will go towards buying some great things for our school! Be sure to bring your money starting this Monday, February 27th from 7:30am – 7:45am each morning. All Smencils and Scented Bookmarks will be sold outside Mrs. Newton’s room D7!
Check out our 3 Smencils Previews we showed the students this past week on the morning announcements to get them excited about the upcoming fundraiser!

Richmond Symphony Assembly
We had the Richmond Symphony visit our school this week. They did an amazing job performing for us and teaching us more about music. Here’s a quick video segment from today’s assembly! Enjoy!
The World Beats Workshop Assembly
We had a really exciting and moving assembly this week! The World Beat Workshop, with drummer Robert Jospé and percussionist Kevin Davis, engaged students in exploring the diaspora of West African rhythms in the Americas and their influence in current music styles. Using a map, percussion instruments and music charts, this interactive program brought musical, historical, cultural and geographical information to life with the journey of clave.
If you know of anyone who might want to book this workshop, email Robert Jospé at rjospe@aol.com.

Kindergarten – Packing for the Past!
During the month of November, our kindergartners studied life in the past as well as needs and wants. Our concluding activity was for each child to design and create a wooden trunk to carry the items that they will need for the voyage to the New World. Please enjoy our video showing our unit. Bon Voyage!
Young Scientist visit 3rd Grade
Young Scientist came on Thursday and Friday for a 90 minute in-class field trip to each of the 5 classes. They focused on the Scientific Method and did some fun experiments to learn about each step. It looks our 3rd graders had a lot of fun!
