Social Studies- Cesar Chavez

Math – Place Value, Rounding

Language Arts – r-controlled vowels, long vowel patterns, fiction and nonfiction comprehension

What are we learning about this week?

Science – Weather Quiz Tuesday

Social Studies- Christopher Columbus

Math – Place Value, Friendly 10s (please help your child master friendly tens (numbers which add up to 10) in order to help with math fluency!)

Language Arts – fiction and nonfiction comprehension, context clues, r-controlled vowels, types of sentences

What are we learning about this week?

Science – investigate and understand basic types, changes, and patterns of weather.

Math – Count by 2’s, 5’s, and 10’s to 120, count backward by 10’s from 120, even and odd numbers, identify patterns found in objects, pictures, and numbers.

Language Arts – read and demonstrate comprehension of fiction and nonfiction texts, use context clues and sentence structure to help with meaning and reading of unknown words.

What are we learning this week?
Language Arts – comprehension, nouns, complete sentences

Math – skip counting by 2s, 5s, 10s; odd/even numbers;  basic addition/subtraction facts

Social Studies –  quiz on symbols

Science – Weather

Sept. 19th – Half Day of School (dismissal begins at 11:35)
Sept. 20th – Back to School Night 6:15

Important Reminders!
-Students can return their library books and get new books any day of the week!
-PE is on Fridays. Make sure your child wears athletic shoes on this day of the week.
-If you are sending lunch money to school, please put it in a sealed envelope with your child’s first and last name on it.
-Please check your child’s blue communication folder daily.  Clear out any papers.  Check for homework sheets and any other important information that may require payment or a parent signature.  This folder goes to and from school/home each day.

Language Arts – Chocolate Fever novel study
Math – review activities
Social studies/science – creating board games on units we have studied

June 4th and 5th: Henrico Assessment Test (HATs) – Math
June 8th: Fun Run!
June 15th: Last day/half day of school

SCA Spirit Week (participation is optional)
June 4th: Mix it up Monday – wear your pajamas
June 5th: Tie Dye Tuesday – wear something tie dye
June 6th: Workout Wednesday – wear athletic clothes
June 7th: T-shirt Thursday – wear your green class t-shirt
June 8th: Fun Run! – wear your white fun run shirt (these will be sent home with students on June 7th)

Mrs. Smith, our Colonial Trail art teacher, is collecting some interesting items to be used in the art room this spring and next fall. Please consider donating any of the following items to be used by the children in their art classes. Feel free to collect these supplies during the summer and send them in the fall as well. Your trash is our treasure!! Thanks for all of your help! Old CDs, Felt, Yarn, Fabric Scraps, Beads or old Necklaces, 4 oz Elmers Glue Bottles, Cheap White Paper Plates, Styrofoam or Plastic Egg Cartons, Empty Toilet Tissue and Paper Towel Rolls, Newspaper
