What are we learning about this week?
Language Arts: verbs; -ed sound
Math: double digit subtraction with regrouping (will start some mixed addition and subtraction too)
Social Studies: finish Lakota/Sioux tribe, start Pueblo tribe

Tuesday, January 23rd: Quiz on the Lakota/Sioux tribe
Wednesday, January 24th: American Indian Project due
Friday, January 26th: End of 2nd marking period
Monday, January 29th: Student Holiday – No School for students!
Monday, February 5th: Parent/teacher conferences (please see the form that is being sent home on Jan. 22nd)
Friday, February 9th: Family Formal Dance from 6:30 – 8:00p

February 12th – Reading, Part 1
February 13th – Reading, Part 2
February 19th – Math, Part 1
February 20th – Math, Part 2

Reminder!  
Please have your child practice their basic addition and subtraction facts up to 20. Double digit addition and subtraction is more challenging when a student does not know their basic facts. Thank you!

Language Arts:  r-controlled words; asking questions before, during and after reading
Math:  double digit subtraction with regrouping
Social Studies:  Sioux/Lakota tribe

Important Dates:
January 19th – Quiz on the Sioux/Lakota tribe (this will change if we miss school for bad weather)
January 24th – American Indian Project due
January 26th – Last day of the 2nd making period
January 29th – Student Holiday (no school for students)
February 5th – Parent/Teacher conferences as needed
February 9th – PTA Family Formal Dance, 6:30 – 8p

GIFTED IDENTIFICATION INFORMATION

Parent referrals for gifted identification will be accepted in October and January for the following grade levels:

  • Students in Kindergarten and grades 1 and 2 can be referred beginning January 2 to January 19, 2018.

Submit referrals in writing (email is acceptable) to the Associate Principal, Tonia H. Christian, thchristian@henrico.k12.va.us during the appropriate referral period.  Subject line of email should state Gifted Referral and the email should include student’s first and last name, grade level, teacher and area of referral (English, Math or Both English and Math).   An email confirmation will be sent by the following day.  If you do not receive an email confirmation, please call the school.
