Former Skipwith Student Gives Back to the Library!

Mr. Young strolled into the Skipwith Library last week to give a donation of $100 to help us purchase new books for our school! It was an awesome surprise! This isn’t the first time Mr. Young has made a donation to our school. In fact, just a few short months ago he purchased a brand new 2015 Guinness World Records book for our library! Mr. Young has told us that he attended Skipwith back in 1958 – 1963 would now like to give back our students currently attending Skipwith! Thank you Mr. Young for remembering our school and helping ensure that our students have great books to read!

Skipwith Reading Duck Race!

Skipwith Reading Duck Race!

Skipwith Elementary celebrated Dr. Seuss’s birthday and Read Across America by having a Reading Duck Race! Students earned ducks by reading at least four books and completing their Reading Reflections for the library. Teachers earned ducks by posting on their classroom door the name of the book they were reading aloud to their classes. Students and teachers wrote their names on the bottom of each duck earned and then added their duck to the pool in the library! At the end of the day everyone started their duck engines (Quack, Quack!) and watched the race via link sent to their teachers! It was a very fast & exciting race! We had one classroom winner and one student winner! These lucky winners each won a Dr. Seuss book, extra special “Seussy” bookmarks, zany pencils and fun erasers! However, everyone that entered the race was a winner because everybody gets to keep their reading duck forever and ever!
