First Week!

We made it through our first week of the 2018-2019 school year! We had a lot of fun guessing our classmates with “Sack Attack,” doing a human chain, exploring the classroom and school, and getting to know our fellow fourth graders. We are going to have a wonderful year in Room 16!

Enjoying the Garden

Our class loves to learn in the garden! This lesson we learned about the first frost of the year and how it affects our plants. We even pulled arugula out of the garden and ate it! Our tasting today was a salad with scallions, apples, lemon pepper, balsamic vinegar, coriander, and olive oil. We will miss these beautiful, warm days!

Salt Maps

We have all had so much fun making our Virginia Salt Maps! It has been messy–but WONDERFUL! They are turning out so well! We cannot wait for them to be finished so that we can take them home and show our families and friends how much we know about Virginia’s regions 🙂

We won!

I am lucky to announce that I won a Patterson Grant from Scholastic to help build our classroom library! The kids and I are VERY excited 🙂 I started having the kids write down book and author recommendations on index cards that they would like to see in our classroom library. Thank you, Scholastic and James Patterson!!

First Week Fun

Woohoo! We made it through our first week of Fourth Grade! We played a lot of fun getting-to-know-you games, went on a school tour, played Sack Attack, started a new book, and enjoyed playing outside at recess with our new friends! Here are a few pictures of our wonderful class 🙂
