We had another great week in first grade! (See pictures here)
This week we learned all about famous Virginians Maggie Walker and Arthur Ashe Jr, and their important contributions in African American history. We read several fun spinoffs of “The Three Billy Goats Gruff” and practiced retelling story plot and discussing the themes! In math, we learned about attributes of shapes, including sides, vertices, and right angles. We learned about -ee and -ea patterns in words and wrote more stories using “first, next, then, and last”.
Parents, don’t forget to sign up for Parent Conferences! Spots are filling up quickly! I sent a blue form in the take-home folders earlier this week to sign up. If you need another one please let me know!
