Winning Researchers!

We are so proud of our 4th grade Henrico 21 winners! On March 28th 13 4th graders were honored for their hard work on a planet research project. The students worked in groups to research a planet and then presented their work to the Richmond Astronomical Society at the Science Museum of Virginia. The astronomers thought the students’ work was “out of this world!”

Dr. Seuss Birthday Fun

What a fun week we are having! We are all Dr. Seuss Fans! All classes were invited to the library for fun Dr. Seuss activities. On Friday March 2nd we will have an AR party for everyone who earned either 5 extra points (k – 2nd) or 10 extra points (3rd – 5th) during this grading period. It will be fun!

4th Grade Students Share Research Projects at the Science Museum

On January 10th, 13 fourth graders set out on a mission.  Their destination was the Science Museum of Virginia.  Their goal was to show off their hard work and knowledge of the solar system.  Their audience would be difficult to impress since they already knew a lot about the subject.  The audience was the Richmond Astronomical Society.  But the 4th graders were prepared.  After lots of research and work sessions in the library, the group took laptops loaded with their Pixie and Photobooth projects and succeeded in impressing the astronomers.  “It was nerve-wracking.  But it was fun.” was how Matthew summed up the event.  I think all 13 students, their parents, and their teachers would agree.  I know their school librarian is very impressed by their hard work and dedication.

Happy Holidays!

Thank you to everyone who supported our book fair!  Your support helps us purchase new books, videos, AV equipment and AR tests for the library collection.  It also allows us to sponsor fun events such as our upcoming “I Love Reading Pizza Party.”  I hope you have a chance to relax during the winter break and read a great book.  I’d love to know what new books you have discovered during the holidays.

Holiday Book Fair!

Want to give meaningful gifts this year?  A book is a gift that can be opened again and again!  The Scholastic Book Fair will be here to save you from holiday shopping stress.  The fair will open Saturday December 10th during the PTA Holiday Bazaar and continue until Thursday December 15th before the PTA meeting.  There will be shopping opportunities before and after school that week as well.  Teachers will also have wish lists available for books they would like to add to their classroom libraries.  So, mark your calendar for the library book fair and sleep late on Black Friday.
