Driver Education in HCPS is a semester course which carries a half credit. It is taught both in the fall and spring semesters. Students must have a learner’s permit prior to the first day of class in order to enroll.Driver Education in Henrico is taught in four phases: classroom, range, simulation and behind the wheel. There is no fee for the first three phases during the regular school year. There is a separate fee for the behind the wheel phase.Driver Education is also offered in Summer School for a fee. Students must have a learner’s permit prior to the first day of class in order to enroll. There is an additional fee for behind the wheel.Driver Education is also offered in selected schools through a night school option during the spring for a fee and no credit. Students must have a learner’s permit prior to the first day of class in order to enroll. There is an additional fee for behind the wheel. Students can receive additional information in their school counseling office.The Evening School of Excellence also offers Driver Education for a fee. Students must have a learner’s permit prior to the first day of class in order to enroll. There is an additional fee for behind the wheel.
