We had another fabulous week of school. It is great to see the kids becoming comfortable with our classroom and our routines. This week, Ms. Michanco, our student teacher, began teaching the students in social studies. We learned about how our government helps us with laws, Memorial Day and Veteran’s Day and the difference between the two. In math, we worked to understand bar graphs, line plots and pictographs. For reading this week, we started our whole group lessons in making predictions when we read. It was a quick week, and I am looking forward to continuing our success!
We had a fabulous first week of school. We had a great time getting to know each other and learning our classroom routines and expectations. On Thursday, we created our class mission statement. As a class, we discussed what we would like to see from our classmates and from our teacher. Together, we wrote our statement and each student signed their name. This is a great way to hold each other accountable to being the best we can be each day.
In math this week, we started talking about how we can graph data in a variety of ways. We will continue discussing graphing into this week. For social studies, we began our lessons about rules and laws and why they are important. Ms. Michanco will start teaching this week, and she will continue our social studies unit and discuss government and why our government is important.
I am looking forward to another fantastic week!
