After many weeks of earning warm fuzzies (compliments), these sweet kiddos filled up their class pom-pom jar and earned a picnic lunch inside the classroom. This was something they had voted on before filling the jar up. I think everyone had a great time celebrating their hard work and enjoying lunch “picnic” style 🙂
Today we celebrated our 100th day of Kindergarten! Everyone looked fabulous in their 100th day shirts filled with 100 things. We had a lot of fun guessing what was inside of our mystery bags and counting the items. The icing on the cake was celebrating with 8 different stations that all incorporated 100. From 100 day snack, building 100 cup towers, filling up a 100 gumball machine, designing/creating with 100 Q-tips, creating a 100 necklace.. the fun was 100% today!
We had a lovely Valentine’s day here in rm.5! We started our day by decorating our valentine bags and listening to valentine stories. We even made our own class book and read it together! Our book is called “Love is..” and we each wrote a page about what love means to us. We are great authors! We enjoyed a fun science experiment, putting candy hearts in different liquids and recording our observations like good scientist. We ended our day with passing out valentines and enjoying a yummy snack. It was a day full of love!
On Friday, SGES had it’s first Pep Rally of the school year to celebrate all of our hard work for the first semester. Two students, who displayed the cardinal way on a daily basis, were chosen from each class to have a special vip recognition. Rishab and Hanna were our Cardinal Citizens and we are so proud of their kindness, respect, responsibility, creativity and integrity they display every day! We also had a few friends (Greyson and Jaimeson) chosen to participate in some fun and games. All of us had fun cheering on our friends, celebrating the cardinal way and all of our hard work! Go Cardinals!
I see my shadow looking at me! We have been learning all about shadows this week and what better way to connect with the holiday we celebrate every Feb. 2nd called Groundhog’s day! We made our predictions after checking out the forecast in PA. After seeing that it was a cloudy morning, many of us predicted he wouldn’t see his shadow. We graphed, analyzed and wrote about our predictions. Afterwards, we caught up with the news and learned that Phil in fact did see his shadow! Here’s to hoping Phil was wrong and spring will be here before we know it!
This week we have been learning about shadows. Today, we turned into shadow detectives and went on a hunt for shadows! We have been talking about how we have to have a light source in order to create a shadow so today, the sun was our light source! We have learned shadows are created by blocking light. We used our friends to block the light and create different statue posses while we drew what we saw. Here we are in action!
