Blubber Experiment

Blubber Experiment

This week we spent time learning and talking about polar/arctic habitats and the animals that live there. We explored the different ways animals adapt to these cold environments. Blubber was our favorite thing to talk about! On Friday, we were able to feel what it would be like to b a polar bear or penguin with a “layer of blubber” around us. We stuck our hands in icy water to feel how cold it was on our skin, then we put our hands in a “blubber glove” and felt how the blubber kept the cold from reaching our skin. We had a lot of fun with this!

Here we are in action as scientist filling out our scientific method recording sheet.

Throwback to Jingle Bell Jam

Throwback to Jingle Bell Jam

Throwing it back to 3 weeks ago when we jammed out in our best holiday gear, with loads of jingle bells and celebrated the holiday season with our winter party.  At our celebration, we enjoyed a healthy “snowman” treat made from bananas, strawberries, grapes, carrots and even a few chocolate chips! We had fun playing “snowball” BINGO using “marshmallows” as our snowball counters. Listening to holiday stories was another treat, while creating our service bags was the cherry on top. We learned the true meaning of the season, helping those in need!
